The National Medical Association (NMA) launched the W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute in December 2004 to develop, evaluate, and implement strategies to promote wellness and eliminate health disparities and racism in medicine. The long range vision of the Institute is to become a preeminent repository of information about the health of African Americans.

The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) is the first and largest trade organization representing the interests of African-American owners of radio and television stations across the country. The association was organized in 1976 by a small group of African-American broadcasters who desired to establish a voice and a viable presence in the industry and to address specific concerns facing African-American broadcasters.

July 2011, The COBB/NMA Health Institute, The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) and PSP 1, LLC a Performance Enhancement Company formed the Health Equity Alliance and has committed ten years to the development, evaluation, and implementation of evidence based strategies for the reduction of racial and ethnic health disparities that affect African Americans and others who are poor and underserved, through PSP’s “B2B Health Communication Model.”
